The Princess and the Frog Minimal Poster

Made this for my last digital illustration project. It's based off the Disney cartoon. I ended up not turning this one in.

Museum Website

Here's a screenshot of the museum website I made for class. Haven't uploaded the actual website yet but that's on my to-do list.

Photos From Claremont

Posted some photos from when I was shooting for the Claremont Photo Collage on my Flickr. Click the images for more.

Claremont Collage - Photo Collage Project

Using photos of a location of our choosing, reconstruct the scene in a different way by the way you assemble the photos together. It's supposed to be a new way of looking at a location or something like that. It was basically a project to have us work with photos in Photoshop. It was pretty fun.

Happy Egg

Found this sticker on one of my eggs the other day. it made me smile. I love finding food stickers.

Haven't had much to post lately. Just a lot of work in progress. Work that will be displayed soon. =)

I missed the deadline to submit work for Society of Illustrators LA competition. =/ Guess it will have to wait until next year.

The Old Couple - Vintage Tin Toy Illustration

Take an old tin toy and give it life by putting the toy into a scene. Then give it an old look by using Photoshop brushes.

I used the inspiration of the 1950s housewife to create this scene. The girl robot is a crazy psycho housewife who lives to serve her robot husband.

Verisimilitude

veri·sim·i·lar
1 : having the appearance of truth : probable
2 : depicting realism (as in art or literature)

Through framing, in-camera manipulation, contextual shift, and/or staging—introduce implications that question impulse to accept veracity of image.

In a nutshell, the objective of this project is to make the viewer question what they are really seeing in the photograph through in-camera manipulation (ie. Raw) and/or staging the objects before shooting. Basically, make the viewer go "Is this for real?!"

I had this idea to play with perspective but, due to the weather, I wasn't able to re-shoot so I had to change my idea. I started shooting randomly around my front yard and I ended up with this shot below.

This was shot in between the raining. At first glance, you think that they may be a landscape. They're rocks in a river or beach. It's not. In actuality, this shot shows raindrops on top of a car. Amazing right? =) I'm surprised that I did so much with so little.

Digital Illustration Project One

Punk-rock inspired poster to advertise the class. I had the hardest time illustrating the character but I think it came out pretty good. =)

Bibliographer Website

Right now, I'm working on my first project for my web design class. We're making a website for a book. I'm doing The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne.

Here are the different layout versions I came up with. I'm going to go with the first one. And I am very excited to be doing the coding right now for it. I feel like such a geek because I find so much joy in doing the coding. Lol.

Detournement: The New Mona

Project for my Digital Studio class. From what I got, detournement is to take something and give it a new meaning by changing the context its in or adding something to it.

So, what I did was i juxtaposed different celebrity body parts onto the Mona Lisa. It's supposed to be a commentary on beauty and fame. Even though the Mona Lisa is so famous and world-reknown, she would have to change things about her to become famous in today's society.

This was fun to make =)

Kilusan Pilipino Shirt Design

My brother's girlfriend is in the Filipino Club at her school. They were accepting t-shirt designs so I made this one. It didn't get picked. =/ I only wished I had more time to make a better one.

Gym Class Heroes @ SDSU

Last night, I went to San Diego State's Aztec Nights where Gym Class Heroes was performing. I haven't seen them in almost a year. I really missed going to their shows. I hope they go on tour soon, though I highly doubt it since Travis is out doing his own thing right now. I sneaked my camera in and got a few nice shots =)

Good50x70 Winners Announced

Link: Good50x70.Org

Unfortunately, I wasn't one of the winners. =/ Can't say I'm not disappointed. I thought it would be really cool to win an international poster competition. But, oh well. There's always next time. Maybe I'll apply for next year's competition or something.

I'm happy for my friend Brian. One of his posters was selected! That's so exciting. Congratulations =)
I will post my poster once I dig it out of my external hard drive.

First Week

Excited for the semester. A bit afraid of the work load. But I think that I'm going to learn loads. =)

House Painting Project

I decided that I want to so some kind of mural in my room. Now, guess it's time to figure out what I want. I just can't help but think that it would be a lot easier to paint if there wasn't the stucco texture all over my walls (texture I didn't want but my parents were adamant on putting throughout the house). I am the worst when it comes to thinking about something for myself. Haha.

Also, I decided I want to do a little painting in our kitchen. I think it would be cute to do little kitchen/cooking appliances and utensils border thing around the kitchen. =) Once I figure out the utensils, I'm going to do it.... I mean, I think I got an "ok" from my mom. Haha.

Who knows when I'll get to these though.

Fall 2010 Semester

ART 410 - The Digital Studio - Mondays/Wednesdays 9:00am-11:45am
ART 323B - Graphic Design - Mondays 1:00pm-6:45pm
ART 363B - Illustration B - Wednesdays 1:00pm-6:45pm or Thursdays 9:00am-3:45pm
ART 483E - Computer Assisted Graphics - Fridays 9:00am-3:45am

Another busy semester coming up.

Disappointed. I hate registering for classes. Something always goes wrong. This time, it turns out that I couldn't register for Special Studies in Graphic Design because apparently, it's required to take ALL the prerequisites to be able to even register for the class. Great. And I have to take that class twice in different semesters. So it looks like my graduating plans will be held back another semester. Dad's not gonna be happy about that =/

Good 50x70

Link: Good 50x70 2010

I went to the website to check out the progress of the competition. I guess they're done with pre-selection! I'm a little anxious and nervous. The 210 winning posters "will travel for 365 days, spreading a good message throughout the world."

On another note, Good50x70 has been acknowledged by the President of the Italian Republic! =) Congrats

Some Previous School Work

Went through some of my old school work files quickly and picked out some pieces to display here (click images for bigger size):

Poster Final:
History of Graphic Design - Fall 2009
Created this poster with Danielle. This design was inspired from Robert Brownjohn's original 007 credit sequence. The credits were projected onto my brother's car.

Bauhaus Quote Typography:
Lettering and Typography A - Spring 2008

Futura Font Designs:
Lettering and Typography B - Fall 2009
3 of 10 designs we had to do. Basically, we had to follow a few different sets of parameters for each design.

Rand Book Jackets:
Graphic Design A - Spring 2010
Design a book jacket for an artist's (auto)biography that reflects him/her. Note that the first picture shows a more accurate color of the green book jacket.

BP Now on WordPress and Blogger

Just been working for the last hour on transferring content from Bunnie Productions from Yola to WordPress. Still need to add in the old updates to the Blogger site but other than that, I would say that move was pretty successful... at least to have some content and all. Definately will be adding new content soon. Definitely need the update. It's just been inconvenient for me because I have stored all my work on my external and keep forgetting about it.

I know, I should probably buy a domain and get working on a website like I've been planning... but for the mean time, I'm just too broke. I'll most likely get one in the fall though. I guess this is good for now.

Right now, I'm still trying to decide if I want to stick with "Bunnie Productions" or switch it to a more traditional name like "A.Sun Designs" or something.

Working on a Project

Gosh it feels good to be doing a project again. The last month and a half have been really unproductive. Feels good to be usin' the old noggin again. =)

Man. It's already July!!

Painting.

Painted this a couple weeks ago. I want to paint a portrait but I just don't have the patience for it. But this was fun. Just smearing paint on a blank canvas. It's kinda relaxing. Reminds me of a jungle.

This Last Week...

Went to the Getty Villa. And did a photo shoot with Alex, Anna, and Stephanie. Click on images to go to my Flickr account.

That's it. I sort of broke my laptop. The key are a little messed up so it's a bit hard to type.

Lazy Summer.

Gosh I feel lazy. It's been about a month since I've been out of school and I haven't done any of my projects that I've wanted to do. I have a few t-shirt designs I want to get out from some sketching I did. And I did an abstract painting. That's pretty much the extent of it though =/ I haven't even done that much photography. LOL. I've done some though. For the latest, check out my Flickr account. I still have some more photos to edit and upload. Here is one of my favorite pics from Orlando, Florida.

This is from Lake Osceola. We took a boat cruise and I was just snapping away on my camera, trying to capture all the beautiful nature and houses on film. I'm not too thrilled with the editing I did on the photo with the colors. But I the colors didn't really turn out the way I wanted it to. I still have a lot to refine in my photography.

It doesn't really help that I've been entertaining my cousin too. She's here until the end of the month. All we've been doing is going to random places (LA, movies, City Walk, etc.) and playing Starcraft.

Ok... now I'm off to the pool to work on my burn tan and have some fun in the sun. 8)

I Made It! =)

I made it through the semester! Wow was it a busy one! But it was a really good one. I feel like I've learned so much. Grown so much. Definately the most productive semester ever... and I think it's just going to get better from now!

I submitted three posters to the Good 50x70 Poster Competition as part of my final for Art 323A. I'm really excited. This is my first time entering into a contest. I'd post my posters up, but the contest calls for "unpublished artwork" and I'm not sure if posting it here would make it published? Anyway, I'll post it once they announce winners and stuff.

Other than that, I have a lot of other materials that I could post which I will be doing soon. =) Right now I'm just relaxing.

I finished finals on Tuesday. But I officially ended for me Wednesday night after doing clean up for photography.

Oh man! Tuesday was such a bad printing day for me! Of course, that was also when my last two projects were due. First, I was about 45 minutes late turning in my posters for Art 323A because it took an hour to print my posters. Mainly because the girl at Staples didn't know that the printer wasn't working correctly. Luckily, I got the lady who worked at the art office to open up my professor's office so I could place it in there (he had a meeting). Then after that, when I finished fixing my Children's Book for Typography, I took it to Kinko's and for some reason, parts of my design were printing at the wrong color, even if it was supposed to be the same color as another component of my design. But I got it all done in time. =) I cannot wait to get my own oversized printer. I'm planning to have one before the next semester. It's going to be such a relieve to print whenever and not having to drive 20 minutes just to go to the closest 24 hour Kinko's.

Hello

Well, here's another attempt to an art blog. We'll see how this goes.

Hi. I'm Amanda (aka Bunnie). I'm a graphic design student. I started designing websites when I was 11 as a hobby. The last four years I've been taking art classes and working on obtaining a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. Hoping to be graduating next Spring.

I'm very bad at keeping updates most of the time. But I intend to sort through all my artwork and stuff after this semester ends and see what I could possibly use for a portfolio.

I'm going to start posting artwork.

I paint. I draw. I photograph. I design. I like to play around with different medias.

For now, check out my personal blog Bunnie Chronicles.

Artist Update

Spring 2010 semester has been a really busy one! I feel like I've barely had time to do anything else!

I am eventually moving this site off Yola. I think I'm going to move it to my old professor's server for the time being... that is.. whenever I get a layout made and up (which probably won't be for a while =/ ).

Other news, I will have a few more things to add this weekend. Going to post a couple of projects that I've worked on this semester.

Going to Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in LA next Saturday. Excited to go =) Hoping to also get a mini photo session done while I'm over there too.

Right now, I'm working on designing a book jacket for Graphic Design. I really should be working on that at the moment. Finished my design for Typography C, which was to make a design for a font.

Website Update

Added about 5 new photos to the photography page.

This weekend, I plan to add typography work. I think I'm going to have a section of work I've done for classes I've taken.
